The Captain Newsam Perpetual Cup

Royal Tara Golf ClubThe Captain Newsam Perpetual Cup is an annual inter-club competition, which is organised by Royal Tara for clubs in the North Leinster region. The cup was presented by Lady Mountcharles in memory of her husband, Captain C W Newsam who had been a member of the Club for many years. The Cup was first played for in 1967 when Rush Golf Club were the winners. County Louth, with seven wins, has the most success to date in this very popular competition which is foursomes matchplay for players with a 17 handicap or greater.

Rules:

  1. Please ensure Matches are played by due date.
  2. Minimum Individual Handicap – 17. Minimum age limit 30 years on 1st January 2018.
  3. Handicap as at 1st January 2018. (Starting Handicaps remain the same throughout the Competition)
  4. Teams to consist of Five Foursomes Pairings.
  5. All Matches played to a finish.
  6. Half the differential of the combined handicap will apply.
  7. For 1st round matches the Club on top of the draw has 3 matches at home.
  8. For subsequent rounds the Club whose letter appears first will have 3 matches at home.
  9. The final will be played at Royal Tara Golf Club on Saturday 1st September 2018 at 2.30pm.
  10. Should Royal Tara be involved, then the final will be played on a home and away basis. The Second leg to be played at Royal Tara on the above date.
